CSS animations/transitions

Posted a bunch of stuff I came across to the WaterlUX group page, figure I might as well document them here too:

ricostacruz.com/jquery.transit/ (Lovely lovely annotated source at ricostacruz.com/jquery.transit/source/)

daneden.me/animate/ – Memories of Overused Powerpoint animations spring to mind… But I can see using the attention getters & fadeIn/Outs on a webpage.

Also, ninjaui.com/ for icons without retrieving icon/font files (ie. all in JS)

LED Cubes, and Raspberry Pis

Raspberry Pis have been out for a while. And I’m thinking of picking one up for projects over the work term in May – August.  (Also, because a Raspberry Pi is just something interesting to have… the possibilities of a cheap & low-power Linux system are numerous.)

I’m not sure how I got onto the subject of LED cubes today in particular, but only seems to be a single project for doing it with a Raspberry Pi, though many tutorials exist for doing it with arduinos.

Of course, I went poking around for components (particularly LEDs), and there’s a whole bunch of stuff posted on ebay.

Fun times ahead, hopefully…

Including new attempts at soldering! Whee!

CSS Media Queries + Me

CSS Media Queries are also well and good after you realise that the problem you’ve been trying to fix comes from being too particular and drilling down to specify paragraph formatting inside the div, but the replacement stylesheet only overrides the container div, not the paragraph formatting.

Urgh. At least I’ve got the problem fixed.

Also, adding .content:after{content:"Mobile Stylesheet";} is a good way to see if the stylesheet is actually being loaded during testing.

A collection of online font resources

www.fontsquirrel.com/ – dubs itself the “best collection of 100% free commercial use fonts”

www.fontspring.com/free – Free fonts from font spring (I am liking Museo Sans. A clean sans-serif font.)

www.google.com/webfonts – Makes using @font-face trivial, so I’ll probably end up using this. (Again, Glegoo and Open Sans look nice to me.)
